As Artist in Residence for Wilson's Point Historic Site and lover of this particular Miramichi area, I often do paintings there on location or from my photographs. I began Trail Gates from a photo and did a value sketch with a 2B pencil in a simple sketchbook and went from there to painting on 6 X 6 in. gallery wrap canvas. The actual painting began with a simple value painting with thinned paint. When it was dry I began painting in color in thicker paint. ...here's some photos..
